Here for the German brands.

When you think of highway police cars, you probably picture something like a Ford Crown Victoria or a Dodge Charger. But in Australia, the highway patrol has something a little different: a Chrysler 300C. The 300C is a big, burly sports sedan that packs a serious punch. It's got a powerful V8 engine, plenty of space for passengers and luggage, and a range of high-tech features that make it seem perfect for the job, on paper.

It may seem surprising that the Australia Highway Patrol is able to afford such luxurious cars, given how notoriously expensive everything is in Australia. Both the BMW 5 series and Chrysler 300C are high-end vehicles with top-of-the-line features and advanced performance capabilities, making them costly to purchase and maintain. The sleek and powerful BMW may offer impressive fuel efficiency, but the gargantuan 300C consumes gas at an alarming rateFurthermore, it seems somewhat excessive to have so many patrol cars on the roads at any given time. While the BMW is known for its great gas mileage, fuel efficiency is not what you would expect from a police cruiser – not when compared to other sedan options like the 3 series or even a standard 4-door Honda.

And for a police force that mainly targets motorists for mere traffic infractions, could there be a better choice than the smaller yet still stylish 3 series? Though perhaps surprising at first glance, these oversized vehicles certainly seem like wildly inappropriate choices for budget-conscious cops on bikes. In any case, they are undoubtedly big, bold, and brash—much like Aussie cops themselves!

And yet, despite these drawbacks, it appears that the Australia Highway Patrol can't get enough of their fleet of BMWs. Perhaps there's something about their styling or performance capabilities that speaks directly to their law enforcement needs – or perhaps they simply think they look cool!

Whatever the case may be, it's clear that there must be more to these cars than meets the eye. Whatever strategies or tactics are being employed by these officers behind all those fancy alloy wheels and powerful engines, one thing is for sure: it's working!

But do you know what I think? Australia's big sedan hoon culture is driving the proverbial truck on those purchases.

Over the years, Australia has become well known for its love of big and powerful sedans. From business executives who want to make an impression when they arrive at work in the morning, to police departments that depend on speed and power for their vehicles, the trend towards large and powerful sedans is clearly evident throughout Australia. And while some might view this as a wasteful or unnecessary use of resources, there are actually many good reasons for why Australians continue to turn to these big cars.

For one thing, powerful sedans like the Holden Commodore SS and 300C offer uncompromising levels of speed and performance, making them ideal for police departments who need to respond to urgent calls quickly. Additionally, these cars also boast plenty of space inside, which is important not only for families who want to fit everyone in on long drives but also for organization like the police force that have to carry lots of equipment with them all the time. Finally, these big Australian sedans are also known for their durability and reliability, which makes them some of the best choices when it comes to vehicles that will be used every day by demanding drivers. So while some might see Australia's love of big sedan culture as frivolous or even excessive, it's glorious and clearly effective.

But what makes these cars so special? Crown Victoria is not exactly hard to get away from with a sport bike or Impreza WRX. But in Australia, you will be taken down quickly with a big bruiser of a car. Running in the city? You can take down that Camry or base Commodore following you. But on the highway? Listen for the burble, sunshine. These cars are designed for one thing: to catch people who are speeding. And they're good at it. If you're thinking of speeding in Australia, think again. You'll be caught before you know it.

Plus, it sounds absolutely amazing when the exhaust is cranked up. So if you ever find yourself being pulled over Down Under, don't be too surprised if it's not a Ford or a Dodge that pulls up alongside you. It might just be a Chrysler 300C.

And now they've gone one step further into enthusiast glory - the four cylinder Stinger GT. Unloved by the masses, loved by petrolheads. A car that makes increasing sense in a world of exploding gas prices.

The selfless and heroic ladies and gents in the Australia Highway Patrol are world-class professionals. And they get to ply their trade in some truly glorious cars. Long live hoon culture!
